If an ad account, business portfolio or personal advertising access is restricted, avoid making repeated changes before identifying the exact notice. Different restrictions apply to different assets, and the available review options can vary.
1. Identify which asset is restricted
Open Meta Business Suite or the relevant business settings and check the account status notices. Confirm whether the notice refers to:
- Your personal advertising access.
- A specific ad account.
- A business portfolio (formerly Business Manager).
- A Facebook Page, Instagram account or a particular ad.
These are different assets. A restriction on one does not automatically mean every asset is restricted.
2. Read the notice and check Account Quality
Review the reason, affected asset and any policy or security instructions shown in Meta’s official interface. Check Account Quality and Support Inbox for additional context. Save the notice details for your records.
3. Secure the people and business accounts
- Use a unique password and enable two-factor authentication.
- Review people, partners and system users who have access; remove access that is no longer needed.
- Check recent account activity and payment methods for anything you do not recognize.
- Complete any identity or business verification request only through Meta’s official flow.
4. Request a review through the official option
If Meta provides a Request Review or Appeal option, follow the instructions shown there. Explain the situation clearly, answer the questions accurately and provide only documents requested through the official process. Do not submit repeated appeals with conflicting information.
5. Keep a record and wait for the response
Keep a copy of the notice, the date you submitted a review and any reference number Meta provides. Check the official Support Inbox for updates. If the review option is unavailable, use the support routes displayed in your account.
Before you make changes
Make sure you know which asset is restricted, understand the reason displayed by Meta, secure account access and use the official review process. Careful documentation is more useful than making rushed changes.
