Meta Business Manager is now commonly referred to as a business portfolio in Meta’s tools. Business verification is a process Meta may ask eligible businesses to complete so it can confirm the organization’s legal identity and its connection to the person managing the portfolio.
1. Check whether verification is available or required
Sign in to the correct Meta business portfolio with an account that has full control. Open Business Settings or Meta Business Suite and look for Security Center. If the Business Verification section offers Start verification, follow the steps shown. If it says the portfolio is ineligible or the option is missing, do not try to bypass the restriction or use another company’s details. Some products may send a separate notification with their own instructions.
2. Prepare accurate business information
Before starting, review the information saved in your business portfolio. Use the business’s real legal name—not an informal page name or marketing brand unless that is also the registered legal name. Check the registered address, business phone number, website and any registration or tax number requested by Meta.
Keep spelling, abbreviations, punctuation and address details consistent with official records. If your document uses a different legal name or address, resolve the discrepancy through the proper issuing authority before submitting. Do not edit documents or enter details that are not true.
3. Understand which documents may be requested
The exact document options depend on the country, business type and verification flow. Meta may first try to match the business against public or official records. If it cannot find a match, it may ask for supporting documents.
- Legal business identity: an official business registration, incorporation certificate, business licence or tax-registration document, where accepted in the flow.
- Address or phone evidence: an official bank statement, utility or telephone bill, or another document specifically accepted by Meta that shows the relevant business details.
- Additional evidence: provide only the extra document or information requested on the verification screen.
A document that proves an address does not necessarily prove the legal identity of the business. Check what each upload is meant to confirm. Requirements can vary, so the accepted-document list displayed by Meta for your country and case is the one to follow.
4. Complete the verification steps in Meta
- Open the correct business portfolio and go to Security Center.
- Select Start verification, if the option is available.
- Choose the country and enter the business details requested.
- Review the business match suggested by Meta. If no result matches, use the option such as “My business isn’t listed” only when it is offered, then follow the document instructions.
- Choose one of the contact or connection methods offered for your case. Depending on eligibility, this may include business email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp or domain verification.
- Upload clear, complete and current documents in the format and size requested.
- Review every detail and submit. Save the confirmation or reference information shown.
5. Common reasons a submission may be delayed or rejected
- The legal name or address entered does not match the official document.
- The uploaded image is blurry, cropped, incomplete or unreadable.
- The document is expired, unsupported or does not prove the specific detail requested.
- The phone number or email cannot receive the confirmation code.
- The person submitting does not have the required control of the business portfolio.
- The portfolio is not currently eligible for that verification flow.
If Meta asks for corrections, read the exact reason in Security Center or the official Support Inbox. Correct the underlying mismatch and submit only what Meta requests. Review times vary; use the status shown in your account rather than relying on a promised approval time.
6. If the “Start verification” button is missing
First confirm that you selected the intended business portfolio and that your account has full control. Check whether Meta has sent a product-specific notification explaining why verification is needed. Not every portfolio can start verification on demand. If the option remains unavailable, use the Help or Support route shown inside your Meta account. Avoid third parties who claim they can unlock the button or guarantee approval.
7. Business verification vs. domain verification vs. Meta Verified
- Business verification checks information about the organization and may include document and contact checks.
- Domain verification confirms control of a website domain. It is a separate process and does not, by itself, prove the full legal identity of a business.
- Meta Verified is a separate subscription product with its own eligibility and benefits. Business verification does not automatically provide a blue badge.
Final checklist before you submit
- You are in the correct business portfolio and have full control.
- The legal name, address and contact details are accurate and consistent.
- You have the official documents requested for your country and verification path.
- Every file is readable, complete and current.
- You are using Meta’s own website or in-product verification flow.
